Not sure Aus failed, they got what was expected. You always hope for better but they met expectations. A downward performance trajectory over the past 12 years is what the FFA and Australia expected? Tell me how it can be possible that every country that enters WC qualifiers can improve? It doesn't...

But he might - and might know from previous games he's reffed. :) He might, he might not. But he might. If my surname was "Mine", I'd probably have my captain mention it to the ref when he's taking the coin toss. Cos history would suggest you'd have been picked up on it previously.

All said and done I think the idea of Mexico, America and Canada is appealing and will be a popular choice with many in comparison to Russia and Qatar. More teams will require more venues, facilities, planning etc. and will generate an enormous amount of money. Reckon the big sponsors will be happy...

Sounds like he should have played on. If he had to stop the game (if he was unable to ref for a moment or two, or if he thought it was worthy of dishing out a card), I reckon he should have restarted with a drop ball.
