Re: RAIDERS Junior FC Trials 2014

ok for coaches to attend? i would love to see how your trials are held and see if there are things we can improve on out at playford. We'll have a security guard at the gate, but I'll let them know you're a mate of mine so they let you in  haha, ive seen the old lads at the gate.. a few cheva...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

I spoke with another parent at my daughters soccer friday night and explained whats happening, he has an Aussie rules back ground and was shocked it wasnt run like that anyway, as thats how they run. I wonder if they have an issue with kids bailing their club if the seniors get relegated? theoretic...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

But if the A, B or C div with relegation/promotion stays, there is no travelling yeh ? yes, ofcourse. But once or twice a season. not 8-10 games a season. I play SL seniors, and im sick of traveling. Pirie, Hills, South Adelaide, Nourlunga, Cove, Seaford, Toros, Sturt.. all a solid 3-4 hour round t...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

Travel will be a big factor. If you look at the current set up at senior level, SL teams will have HUGE travel commitments. Predominately teams situated on the out skirts of CBD. Playford for example, are mainly represented by kids from Elizabeth and outwards. Got kids from Barossa, Balaclava etc. N...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

Let's look at the big picture of developing juniors than your own back yard Like the concept The State League clubs are at a huge disadvantage with travel. We are talking about those clubs travelling from Noarlunga to Playford to Gawler to Cove to South Adelaide to Port Pirie etc. Juniors and senio...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

Which clubs only have 2 pitches ? South Adelaide. Noarlunga. Playford. Birkalla. Cumberland. Salisbury. Some clubs with no grounds at all and play at Burton. There are probably more clubs than listed that only have two pitches. We have 2 full size pitches at Playford, and 2 SSG pitches we've acquire...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

If it goes ahead and is planned well, this could be the turning point for increased spectator support for clubs. Senior and Junior fixtures would be identical, allowing a club to have almost all their junior teams playing one after the other. This is an excellent chance to build an increased revenu...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

what if the PL clubs paid a transfer fee to the SL club for players from each age group e.g. 12 yr old is $200 - $1200 for a 17yr old that has been at the same club that way something is coming back for development. I know compensation exists, but thats for professional contracts. Im against any so...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

All these players jumping clubs, is and has happened for ever and a day under our current structure! This new structure, as I see it will initially see a flurry of activity but will reduce the player drain to a trickle over the years. To Matty2323, I have seen the passion you have for your players ...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

Matty, you keep saying how we (Raiders) don't have to worry, we're set, etc, etc But like I said previously, our juniors were a shambles 5-6 years ago When I started coaching 7 years ago, I had 6 players come to my trials, most teams had approx 10 players if they were lucky, our pitches were cow pa...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

The whole perpuse of clubs, in my opinion, is to produce players, players to fit into the clubs philosophy on how the games played which should be reflected by the first team. All the junior teams should be making these kids as good as they can, so when they get to under 18's they can start mouldin...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

Just a couple of “points” to add to the discussion. 1) “Over the years there were 3 families at Raiders with 3 siblings in each who all play for Raiders (different age groups) they spend far too much time on their "logistical nightmare's" for each Sunday's game, sometimes one of their kid...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

My boys play at Metro and we travel 35 minutes up and back. Whilst I agree this is not possible for some and perhaps some may not be willing to drive those distances, one of my boys played in the b division for 4 out of 5 years at the club. Whilst opportunities were presented at the end of almost e...

Re: 2014 Junior League

The question for the under 17's is whether it is a viable league with good coaching and progressive development. At Para Hills the 17's have been an important support to the seniors. Over the years many of Para Hills senior players have progressed through the under 17's. For some players, who are n...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

About 6 weeks ago the team was in reach of “Promot...

Exactly .... people are getting excited about no junior promotion/relegation, but no one says 'boo' about the u17, u18 and Reserve leagues that don't have it !! surely promotion for those lads is taking the step into senior football in some shape or form? Youth squads (u18's) and reserve teams are ...

Re: New Junior Structure 2014

I hear a lot of people talking about "for junior development to succeed, we need to get rid of points/ladders/relegation/promotion etc"... has this been scientifically tested to improve development? As a coach, I'm a huge advocate of needing to play in the best divisions to test yourself a...
