Re: CUP Semi- Final tommorow Night..........Flames V Parra H

Who won that final? BTW half of the Uni state league squad played in the other U17 semifinal on Wednesday night. Really wonder if they've all met the five-league-game requirement? Hope FFSA has a look.

Re: Adelaide United W-league Coach Announced

This should probably be another topic- BTW happy that the response to the new W-League coach seems to be so positive- people weighing in are not regular forumites, so that's also good news- means he's known more widely. GO LADY REDS! That STIC stops at 14 is down to the FFA changing the national tou...

Re: SASI winds up without a whimper

Has nobody seen the player development section of the FFSA website? Settle petals! It's all in the powerpoint presentation. Contrary to the prevailing opinion on this website they're not all complete idiots over there. :) And agree completely with Neits- it's more about the player and what they're w...

Re: Junior Girls Inter-State Tournaments?

There are girls' junior divisions in the Gold Coast Cup, although they tend to be small and unpredictable year to year. Uni played U16 last year and came runners up, and U12 girls' state team played U14 3 years ago- good tournament.

Re: Results 14/8

One Olympic player pulled off pitch, uninjured, to sit in locker room before prems game, then on bench for first half of prems game. Could have continued. Then two more came off middle of second half injured. Score 4-0 when Olympic ran out of players. A shame as they weren't doing badly.

Congratulations to the girls for a good start, but let's not get too excited yet. Tomorrow may tell us more, not to mention the end of the week vs. Queensland and nsw. Good luck to them. I hope the goals continue to flow!

Re: Girls State Teams 2012

Thanks for that redback. It's always good to know what other states are doing. It wouldn't surprise me if that's what ends up happening here in SA as well. It's really a sensible idea IMO.

Re: Girls State Teams 2012

I believe that's the intention at the moment- it will require a buy-in on the part of the clubs, some of whom stand to lose players to the 15/16 squad- if only for a year or two. But it seems to me that it is in the best interest of the elite side of the sport- in order for SA to compete on the nati...

Re: Girls State Teams 2012

ET- I think what will happen, and what was meant, was that 15/16 development squad will train as a squad, play in the Prems and have no club commitments- like SASI has been W-League will train together and play for their clubs on Sundays in their off-season (after W-League season ends)- the 'not tra...

Re: Girls State Teams 2012

I have just been made aware that there is information, in the form of a powerpoint presentation, on the FFSA website under the player development heading detailing the program for the girls and women in 2012 (this is fairly newly posted, I believe, within the last few weeks)- The first half of it ta...

Re: Girls State Teams 2012

I think we've come full circle here- Direction and structure of girls' state programs will depend on appointment of Head of Women's Football (Adelaide United Women's Coach)- U13 program seems to be following the boy's skilleroo model- STIC teams play each other for awhile from October-Christmas- the...

I would imagine that it's :airton.andrioli@ffsa.com.au. He is in charge of player development at FFSA, so his contact details should be listed on the website if the one I've given isn't correct.

Cumby U17's play Hills at Hills on Thursday night and KO is 7:15 so I would imagine, because many of the Div 1's work as well, that it wouldn't be any earlier than that.

"This girl" has been a Mathilda for a couple of years now, if I'm not mistaken. Don't think she has come from obscurity- can't say what pathway she followed, maybe she did come up through the elite pathway in her state- we at least know (thanks Lepps) she was on the national school girls s...

Girls must be different because many girls each weekend, normally because of player shortages, play 2 games for two different teams within their clubs on a weekend. Happens routinely at many clubs.
