Re: U17s cup replays

Just found out that Metro are playing Playford in the finals. Congrades to the boys BUT Playford did lose to croydon in the semis , but they must have been naughty :( Croydon has a few senior players (18s and Reserves) playing down. Although they were age appropriate (still under 17) they hadn't pa...

Re: Juniors in same league as Seniors, will this happen in 2

i think majority of people are becoming more educated on the winning-vs-development mentality in our game. i just hope we don't go too far in the opposite direction. Kids still need to want to win, its that mentality that separates the good from the elite. its up to the coaches to ensure that the wa...

Yes: Im joint Head coach of the u13 JPL team at Playford City Patriots. No need to head to Barca, they already know how to develop young footballers. This is the same Barcelona that keeps spending money on players? $130m this year by the way. Ajax is a far better model and has been successful over ...

Re: Junior/Youth Trials

For coaches, who conduct trials for u12s - u16s, what kind of drill's do you do and what do you look for in a player to select them in either a JPL or JSL side? Keep trials basic: Allow them to warm up with some 4v2 in a 10x10m square then move on to some Small Sided Games. Keep it around 5v5 with ...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points

Matty you do realise that the player was not overage but someone from the club failed to pick up he wasnt registered i will admit i didn't read past the first page as it was the same stuff. So it was an "administration" error in junior football? and as a consequence his team have lost the...

Re: JPL team stripped of all competition points

this all wouldn't matter if people weren't obsessed with results. I know there are "rules" but what if the kid was under-developed, and even though he was 15, it was best for his development to be playing u14s? All i care about is the kids, not the ego of parents or coaches. Kids "sta...

Re: Aggresive players and coaches

If the FFSA are so intent on 'development' then why do they have this top 3 qualification system for under 12,13 etc JPL Division A? Catch 22 situation . Its a really crap situation in my opinion. We want players being able to compete and develop in the appropriate skill levels for their age groups...

Re: too young for u18?

Fair comments matty2323 but I think you will find 'game' training (depending on how you define it) continues into 18s and perhaps beyond. There are players aged 13-14 that are more advanced in game intelligence than many I have seen in the 16s and 17s, and these are often readier to play 18s than t...

How young is to young to play in u18 state league I understand all kids are different but Just looking for your input? If you're good enough, you're old enough... Having said that, the kids development has to be taken into consideration. I look at 3 things: Are they Technically capable? Are they Ph...

Re: unsporting behaviour

JSL teams should either not enter the cup or have their own cup....simple JSL teams should not be in the cup..Then these pathetic results won't occur again. Jett - wasnt just JSL teams .....look at the U13s one JPL beat another by 18:1 and another match was 16:0....I dont think you can make blanket...

I was at Raiders reffing three games today (06/04). Left my bag in the referee's change room for the final game. Had my phone at half time of the U16A JPL Raiders VS White City. Once I finished the game I came back in and noticed the light was off. Didn't really think much of it before I realised m...

Re: Huge Scorelines

20+ goal margins can be avoided marty2323 and I bet you were on the right side of the ledger. Nobody gains from that kind of match despite you putting a gloss on it. To pretend that a team down 20-0 is not affected by the state of play is defying human nature. Sure kids need to handle winning and l...

Re: Huge Scorelines

I was involved in a 20+ score line on the weekend. Despite the scoreline, i thought both sets of players were a credit to their respective clubs. The winning team's players were humble and respectful (no gloating) and the losing team's players were committed, never dropped their heads, and continued...

Re: Which club told their kids not too wear club guernsey

Would love to see a program put in place that taught kids how to defend at the elite level... no use being good at possession if you can't win the ball back. Would be interesting to hear how many of the coaches out there rotate their players through the roles week by week? Last article I read on Aj...

Re: Which club told their kids not too wear club guernsey

I watch videos of Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Robben etc.. you ever see them when they were kids. Some number 6 drops in, pops a pinpoint pass to them.. they get the ball, dribble 5-6 players and score.. who you think got recognised? Give me an 15-16 year old decent footballer, in 1 month i can tea...

Nobody would pass to the kid. Unfortunately that is a recurring theme when speaking to others about the sap trial process. I congratulate RA and the FFSA overall, but one shortcoming seems to be a perception (rightly or otherwise), that they are not interested in the team player. They would rather ...

Re: Which club told their kids not too wear club guernsey

It's interesting that some seem to make excuses as to why certain kids were chosen for SAP over others and what club you choose at U6 say, is the only thing that determines whether you get into programs like SAP. Some of those 10/11 year olds that did get into SAP, including the North zone, do trai...
