Re: Adelaide Utd 2023-24 a nightmare season
Excellent comments and done so in a sensible way. Thanks to the responders. We all want the team to be the best it can. Seems like there are many reasons to have addressed. AUFC...the ball is in your court.

Re: Adelaide Utd 2023-24 a nightmare season
WNPl Hub. Can't argue with your reply. You have asked questions and made some valid replies. Strong reputations as a recruiting tool hasn't achieved the results the last 3 years. What I take from your reply is that you can't operate within a professional (Utd) and an amateur (wnpl) framework. Pay/co...

Re: Adelaide Utd 2023-24 a nightmare season
The stats are undeniably bad. As far as for the reasons we've analysed and commented on this over almost a decade. Still the results are not improving. Over the last decade and more we've gone from the former NSL to the W League to A League Women. The NSL era yielded good results and from what I rec...

Re: Adelaide Utd 2022-23 a season to forget
You've asked good questions and comments. Most will lay the blame at the feet of the coach. Facts are that the step up from WNPL to A-League is (from what's been told to me) is quite significant. Question is whether we have the level of WNPL competition here in SA that is equivalent to the consisten...

Re: preseason cup finals
Common sense. I've been a follower of the local soccer scene for a couple of decades and I really see a game cancelled. Wet weather an unplayable pitch? Cancelled. Hot weather. Rarely. A decade or so it used to be the wet bulb test the federation hung on to in order to justify that a game could cont...

As they say in the classics, believe nothing you hear (or read) and half what you see, Tony S is a very proud sponsor. Saying that, anyone who appoints Tony as a coach is a very lucky club.

Re: Coaches goings and goings for Season 2024
Well said Michael. Having been around the women's soccer/football scene for over 2 decades I have seen good people, coaches, managers, volunteers, leave and many never returning. Many reasons. However, the sport needs good hard working people. It's not for the pay the coaches do the job. It's for th...

Women's A League and Payment
Good article about Emily and her injury battle. I wish her a full recovery. A very good player and person. Good to read the appalling pay the female players had been receiving from their time at AUFC and possibly at other A League women's clubs. $60 per game? Average time commitment about 12 hours; ...

Very interesting question. Sometimes awards are given as "encouragement" for a job well done in the circumstances. I'm only being serious.
Anyway, there are a few interesting results albeit worthy recipients.

I agree with the comment that to win a league title as did Comets requires far more than the Championship. Both have merit however, a league title is the culmination of a whole year where many factors come in to play.

I'm happy to be reading that there are some models for player payment. That's a good thing. There needs to be a value placed on the product. It deserves recognition and player payment is a positive.

Re: WNPL and State sports Park
Lots of discussion on here and about the weather, gate takings, growth n the game etc. The discussion was to be about the de-centralisation of the wnpl ie from centralisation we had at the Parks for many years to the de-centralised model at State Park. Does not look like it will get back to that mod...

Re: WNPL and State sports Park
Good discussion. I'm not a player however, up to recent times the two clubs I had crossed paths with did charge some of its preens a club fee. Whether it was the full or discounted amount would probably be up for negotiation. From what I have seen/heard players were encouraged to get personal sponso...

WNPL and State sports Park
With the move to Gepps Cross, away from the Parks, will we now be seeing only 2 WNPL games on a Friday night? At the Parks we had 2 games at 6.15 and 2 at 8.15 or thereabouts. Looks like we only see 2 games at Gepps cross 6.15 and 8.15 and both on the artificial pitch. The main pitch isn't being use...

I don't know a lot about Jamie however, the bio is excellent. As with all the coaches, I wish them well for 2022. And Maxy...you too. Uni announced Jamie Dunning as WNPL head coach http://adelaideunisoccerclub.com/2021/11/adelaide-uni-lock-in-new-womens-coach/ Great work by Uni to pick him up.

Re: Coaching Moves 2021/2022
Depends on which angle you look at it....Wasn't a good fit. Or a mutual parting of the ways. SI have had a few coaches since it came into the wnpl. 4 to date? Again I wish him well. From what I have (senior players) he's rated as a person and coach. Not too many coaches that are or have been in the ...

Re: Coaching Moves 2021/2022
Agreed. Paul is a very competent and decent bloke and if appointed will excel. Will have challenges with regenerating the list however, the club is solid on this front. Paul Morris the reserves coach (Metro)would be a great candidate for the seniors role, he has a good track record of winning titles...

Re: Coaching Moves 2021/2022
WOW ....I see lots of opportunities. Anyone interested in starting/advancing their coaching career (lead or assistant) should think of applying and or approaching a club. It is a rewarding career when you're coaching players whom (most) are not being paid and do it because they love the game. Refres...

Well said Baggio. Totally agree.
Uni has/was to be related. Fulham hanging in. Both have well established structures and junior set ups that cannot be destroyed. The women's game is better for the expanded WNPL and for the (possible/hopeful) retention of Uni and fulham in the WNPL. Win win.

Re: Flinders United WFC
I agree with your opening comment. Cumby is a sad example at what relegation can do to a club. Once relegated the ramifications are dire. I am interested to read that the FSA are discussing the possibility of increasing the numbers in the WNPL. Not that I support poor premiers however, Fulham (possi...

Re: Coaching Moves 2021/2022
8 coaches in 7 years however, look what was achieved in the P Pezos and beyond era. Not a bad record. Admittedly the coaching turnovers have been a concern however, some have moved on to "promotional" opportunities? I suppose the Max situation was probably the only blemish. On another note...
