Post and off season rumblings

Lot's happening in the off season (just ended last Friday). Will be interesting to see: 1) Where COTE plays next season? 2) If Tracey is actually appointed to the west adelaide job? 3) Will there be a mass exodus from Salisbury to.............(fill in the gaps) 4) Whom will take on the Salisbury job...

Re: WNPL Grand Final 2020

Made a few edits to clarify my comments. Interesting discussions about the coaching merry go rounds at City and whom at City ought to have stepped up to coach. Did that account for their loss Friday night or was the opposition playing a tough style of football that come from the 2 previous do or die...

Re: WNPL Grand Final 2020

Thank you Scar, I do my best. It was a brilliant night and as biased as I am (as a dad of a metro player, I will thank City for driving metro to be the best and to take our A game to the final last night. Without our opposition we are nothing. and without our best we could not have won. Respect to C...

WNPL Grand Final 2020

Why a year its been for us all and for the WNPL and the women's comp generally. So Friday night we have the grand final between 2018 finalists Adelaide City and Metro United. It will be another great game between these two highly competitive teams. In 2018 Metro finished top however, lost the final ...

Re: Coaching Movements

Haywood. You've spoken well and said some interesting things. Yes I agree that a team will always beat a group of players whom are potentially not buying into the team ethos AND or what the coach is trying to deliver. Metro are squeezing very inch out of this season. Good honest players that are cer...

Re: Head of Women's Football

Interesting adjectives used to describe people. Puppets My 2 dollars worth, I never blame the people in charge of AUFC W teams. They can only do what they can, They are restricted by money the AUFC sends their way. Over the most few years I have observed the AUFC W and whilst the pay equity, raised ...

Re: Coaching Movements

Interesting comments about West A and Salisbury I. WNPL or any other league isn't an easy job for anyone. I've seen many games this season and whilst I acknowledge the efforts of city, I thought they would be challenged by the likes of WA and SI. Metro started the season well and then with injury an...

Re: Adelaide United Keeper Quits Club

Interesting discussions on her however, it appears Sportsbird has probably stated the obvious or is privy to information from within the inner sanctum. Anyway, I'd say Juniors comments are on point and yes, I'd say Sarah is looking for a change of scenery. Good time in her career to do this. I wish ...

Re: AUFC - W season 2020-2021

Thanks In The Way There are many options that could be considered as an alternative IF the W league doesn't go ahead. Once thing is certain we cannot leave a gap with no national women's comp albeit in a modified form. The W League is a huge opportunity for any player to aspire to. To have that on y...

AUFC - W season 2020-2021

HI forumites Given Covid-19 will season 2020-21 go ahead if so when is it likely to occur? Secondly, will the teams have to go into a hub and quarantine for a fortnight and then play a compressed season? I've heard it will be a very late start. If that's the case then that will be great. Local playe...

Re: Adelaide United Keeper Quits Club

Sportsbird, whilst I sometimes read your posts with caution, this post is a tad confusing. It appears that the alleged incident you are referring to was for the 2019/2020 season and isn't the case now. Or are you saying that the GK has left NOW today this week this month and won't be playing for AUF...

Re: Season review to date

The last 2 years have certainly been a concern. 2018 finished off really well. Crowds were coming to most games and especially the blockbuster games where it wasn't odd to see a very big crowd to see City v Metro/Westies. Standard? I'd probably agree that the comp is going through a change. Many exp...

Vale Lyle Burgess

My condolences to West Adelaide player and women's football identity and all round gem Nenita and her mum and family on the sad passing of their dear father and husband Lyle. A gentle man in every sense of the word. A strong supporter of Nenita and women's football. Always willing to lend an ear and...

Whilst I may not always agree with everything you've submitted in this post and others, I welcome the time you have taken to write it up. Re: Season 2020

As with most things do not always believe what you hear especially on game day. Anyway, it's so good to be discussing payments to players etc. It's come along way and despite what the men's comp is enduring with respect to payments, it is good to read from Junior that there is equity in pay cuts. Th...

Re: WNPL round 4

Good to see the games back and that the level of competition as fierce as ever. No predictions here however, I ask that the players play in the spirit of fair play and NO injuries. Remember, support your teams and give the young assistant referees a fair go; many are new to the game and deserve our ...

Season 2020

Good luck to all the teams in the WNPL and all women and girls teams in the re-boot of season 2020. I'm looking forward to seeing the talented players out there week in week out playing the Beautiful Game. May not have the high media profile; the talent and skill on show leaves many sports in their ...
