The issue for me is if that any of the players are getting paid more than $99 a week it: a) is illegal if they don't declare it as income to the ATO; (not my business, I know) and, b) breaches SAASL competition rules. This is why I have argued previously on this forum that the SAASL remove the restriction on payment amounts (at the end of the day, it is impossible to police), and implement a point system similar in principle to what is active in the SAAFL and the NBL.

i dont understand why ppl make a big issue over this, good luck to those players that do get paid and those clubs that can afford to pay them. Then you would see players playing even harder than what they used to because of the mentality that "if they dont play well they wont get paid." I...

I know as a fact that clubs from Saturday Div 1 and Sunday Div 1-3 provide payments for players.

It was reported on here that last year one club paid players in Saturday Div 2. This wouldn't surprise me.
