Re: WNPL/WSL Pro/Rel
And? So we close up the WNPL shop and continue to reward mediocrity? Have we reached the point of handing out participation medals? If clubs that are relegated are fair dinkum they will bounce back. If their playing model or culture was unsustainable at NPL then let them drop to the level that suits...

Re: WNPL/WSL Pro/Rel
The table doesnt lie. Fulham and Conets have been cellar dwellers for years. Uni not much different. They have been protected from relegation to allegedly rebuild. That hasnt worked. NPL is not an entitlement. Time to move on and for at least one of these to regroup in State League. If its two of th...

Matildas squad for Tokyo
Unfortunately no SA based players in 18 player Matilda squad for Tokyo.
Can see that there will be generational change in the Matildas after this event but are there SA players in the mix to step up?

Re: Women's Grand Final 2020
The standard of u15/17 coaching is very uneven with most having a singular focus on the curriculum that aims for the lowest common skill denominator and with only a few coaches/ clubs aiming for aspirational development. Talented players get bored playing hoofball drop out of clubland or have their ...

Re: Women's Grand Final 2020
Not sure what the expectations are for "growth" and "fragility" that would satisfy some critics. What has happened between 2011 and 2020 is that the number of teams playing in FSA regulated womens and girls competitions has grown from around 90 to around 130. Thats almost 50% inc...

Re: McGree scores for Blues
In an early interview he called his loan spell at BCFC a stepping stone in his career.
Didnt exactly endear himself to the fan base.
He will need to put in a few decent shifts and get amongst the scorers to get over that comment.

And gets his playing shirt number retired after one pro season and four goals. None of the transfer will stay at BCFC to be reinvested. Club is in disarray with no manager, no transfer targets, ground share and inept ownership than the EFL seems to hate. But otherwise its all looking rosy at St Andr...

Re: Adel Utd Coach to be Offered Further Contract Extension
This is where youre wrong Sportsbird. Its not a sporting club. AUFC is an accounting entity for a private overseas investment group. The W squad is virtue signalling of their commitment to diversity etc. Dont care whether win or lose. Just dont cost me to much. Perhaps time for a club to get the W l...

Freezing clubs out for even one season undercuts recruitment and retention and non-promotion will become a self fulfilling prophecy.
Where does the "inner north" super club zone start and finish?

Re: AUWFC season 2019-2020
The major downfall of this thread is that assertions have been made by SB regarding the contracting of injured players to the exclusion of presumably fit and otherwise comparable players. In itself this is a reasonable basis for complaint given the short season etc. What is very unreasonable is the ...

I think you will find that family and friends - ie the AC "community" were notified of the appointment earlier this week by email - along with junior coaches and trial dates etc

Re: FFSA Bringing the game into disrepute
Exemption - the action of freeing or state of being free from an obligation or liability imposed on another.
So by definition, FFSA did apply an exemption because they considered and responded to the cases on merit.
They obviously reached different conclusions.
For goodness sake, move on.

LOL.
This is the same player that was considered by sportsbird to not be worth a go at AU because she is injury prone and has not shown results at W league - yet now she is elite.

Re: coffs nationals - same old story
My query is why do we bother with NTC teams in the first place? Aust rules, cricket, netball etc dont have "academy" or quasi state teams playing in junior comps. Juniors play for their clubs and the identified talent is selected and play in their respective national championships. Why doe...

Re: coffs nationals - same old story
Captn asks a fair question. The 14/15 Girls results at the nationals havent been flash for a few years now. This will in turn feed into the reserves/ NPL levels in coming seasons. Although I am not close enough to offer insights, there does appear to be a formula being followed through STIC/ NTC whi...

Cant see FFAs coffers being boosted by State Governments throwing money around to host the group round. I see the Socceroos gracing the green green grass of Wollongong, Coffs Harbour, Mildura and Geelong. TV rights negotiations should be fun.

So we have gone from Paul Merson's sample size of one team's admittedly lame goalkeeper warm up drill - and not being sure of the age group - to juniorsupporter's sledging a whole age group as unmotivated and not serious players just because they play u15s and arent in the WNPL yet. Well that really...

Better be careful. You might get FFSA to commission some unknown cultural/ leadership consultant to survey players with loaded questions whose anonymous answers will lead to the coach being sacked in the week before playoffs because they werent growing as players or didnt understand the whiteboard i...
