Re: Transparent Pricing Structure

heard today Comets at best part of 1k for juniors next year. that's inflation should be a percentage not $100 more than last year. Wow that's $200 up in two years That's 25% increase over two years. Inflation was 1% in the past year and 2% the year before. Where is the extra fee income going? Were ...

Re: Transparent Pricing Structure

The money crunchers at these clubs are poor mathematicians or just greedy, probably both. By saying that you really only have two options here: a) So you are accusing them of lining their own pockets? OR b) putting the money back into the club to pay the bills. No doubt you'll be backing down now a...

Re: Factors to consider when selecting a club for your child

I'm not sure if you understand what I wrote. I don't have a clue how many clubs run a 7-a-side summer completion. What's that got to do with it anyway? Well if you have no idea and it turned out that no Fed clubs run a summer comp then what's the point of posting No.4 in the first place? That one c...

Re: Factors to consider when selecting a club for your child

4. Beware clubs that run a 7-a-Side summer competition. 7-a-Side summer competitions generate a huge cash injection for clubs. Probably greater than $50K!! You do the math. As a result, clubs take their summer competition very seriously and in turn take every effort to keep the pitches in good cond...

Re: Factors to consider when selecting a club for your child

Having experienced more than a couple of NPL clubs, the above points are accurate and worth paying attention to. Not all clubs are the same and I'm sure certain clubs are a lot better than others. The problem is some clubs are too far away for some to access easily. The above factors do affect whet...

Factors to consider when selecting a club for your child

I chased that round ball around for many years and loved every second of it. This game has been a massive part of my life and has enabled me with general life skills and friendships that will last a lifetime. Football is much more than a sport and therefore it is very important that our kids experie...

Re: 2017 Trials - Junior Playing Fees

I'm sure if only 50% of the fees were re-invested into our juniors then we wouldn't care too much about paying the $900+ per year. I believe the angst is building here because parents (in their opinion) are not seeing much value for their money. One simple way of seeing if a club is investing in its...

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented

This is a timely reminder as we come to the end of the season and trials are just around the corner. If the club you are currently at or the new club your child is trialling at mentions they are implementing the “30 Man Squad System” then I encourage you to have a really good think of all the possib...

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented

We all know that the difference between JSL and JPL is gigantic in every way, at every club at every age level. You are being very dramatic. This is local community football, they are not playing for professional contracts. Just let the kids play with their mates. We had an instance at our club whe...

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented

Thanks to all for some very valuable input. Just sounding the alarm bells as I predict this "30 man squad" system will be making its way into many clubs. i.e. Announce the "30 man squad" at the end of trials but not announce the JPL and JSL teams until season start. Its the clubs...

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented

OK...perhaps I wasn't as clear as I could have been with describing what I meant by a "30 man squad" system. The "30 man squad" system implemented this season at a club here in Adelaide consists of 15 JSL players and 15 JPL players with individual coaches. At the conclusion of th...

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented

To fball12,

You definitely say it as it is.

I for one have never ever seen a Technical Director do their job as its supposed to be. Despite all the promises by Club Officials at the commencement of every season.
Disclaimer: I only talk about the clubs I have experience in.

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented

To geoff9559, Some excellent points there however I must say that was 2x cups of coffee worth :) In my opinion if a 30 man squad was implemented at U18s level then I wouldn't have any concerns about the players mental health or their football development as they should have established themselves as...

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented

Thanks Vardy for your input. No, I'm not coaching at the moment. I just wanted to get a point of view on this "30 man squad" system that is creeping into our game at young levels. It seems this thread has taken a bit of a tangent to be a JPL vs JSL thing but this wasn't my intention. Basic...

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented

IMO the difference I have seen in quality from JSL to JPL players is too great for a squad of 30 to be of any real advantage.. Great suggestion from Pie and Bovril, two separate squads with only two possible interchanges from JSL to JPL. At least it distinguishes the two teams so the issue of socia...

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented

Once they move to the full sized pitch (under 12's) I believe they should be able to accept that football is a form based game. A kid might be missed during the season and only selected for JSL, should he have to play the lower level all season? Kids need to realise that things aren't given to you ...

Re: 30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented

We do this already. JPL has a squad of 14 and JSL 16. Each week two players from the JSL train and play with the JPL. Sounds like a great system! Promoting kids upwards is a very good (providing they are physically able to cope). It promotes excellent confidence building, especially when they retur...

30 man squad - what age level should this be implemented?

Hi all, Just wanted to canvas everyone's thoughts on what junior age group you think it is appropriate to introduce the 30 man squad system. The 30 man squad system is when there are 30 players for two teams and the coach can promote and relegate players up and down at will between the two teams. Th...
