This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of.

Realistically there are only four teams than can win it and another four that have a chance of making the final.

You would have a pot of 6 UEFA top seeds and another pot of 2 UEFA, 1 AFC, 1 CONCACAF, 1 CONMEBOL and 1 OCEANiA.
Then you would draw 6 playoffs from there. Much fairer than the current system.
Netherlands would still miss out, but that's tough cabernet if you finish 3rd.

Maybe they were trying to gain a better view of the pitch in a stadium not designed for football by standing on seats not engineered to be stood upon?
