Where does this come from, the whole 'must protect the keeper' thing? A referee said on the weekend that they must protect the keeper, this was after they were queried on a freekick given to the keeper. How dare the paid staff and volunteers take a day off for the public holiday. sorry but I know of multiple leagues that are up and done the same day, sat and sun even C leagues Perhaps the league has to cross reference match sheets and verify all players listed are registered and not suspended etc.
