There are many players that are playing U18s that wouldn't make any of the U16A JPL1 sides.
Not at the same club unless you have problems at your club.

Re: U18s JSL competition

Also needs to be remembered, playing football or any sport for that matter is a social activity. 16-20 yr olds do not want to play with 30+ yr olds. They are more comfortable playing in a 16-20 age group where they have friends and know other older kids and will enjoy the game. Hence the need for U...

Re: U18s JSL competition

There are a lot of hacks in the Collegiate & Amateur divisions and that puts off 16-20 yr olds. I played Sunday Div 2 amateurs at 19 and remember how rough and unskilled some players were and the referees did little to protect the ball players. I would hope its changed for the better. I still r...

Re: U18s JSL competition

We need to give players the opportunity to stay at their club for as long as possible. Most don't want to play amateurs at 16-18yrs, playing against 30yr plus players. Players actually want to stay and play for their club for as long as possible. It's usually delusional parents that want their kids...

Re: U18s JSL competition

Correct. Sturt run amateur teams. But many of these young players are not ready and just need a couple years to mature and then take the next step to amateurs. That provides a improved pathway for these players to facilitate keeping them in the game. At 17/18, they're not ready to play in the lower...

Amateurs U20 Competition? Cover the transition from FFSA U16s to U20s (U18s & Reserves) when they leave the game forever in many cases. Less serious, more fun, less cost compared to FFSA cash cow clubs, less training, etc Place in the Collegiate or Sat/Sun Amateurs competitions. From there they...

Major club is getting too sure of itself now. Pushing the envelope at $1400 junior fees reeks of arrogance. It might be their unique way of avoiding the junior trials dramas of 2016 and 2017. Club football and paying $1,400 is not essential. Play for the school, play for a cheaper club. No one is forced to pay $1,400 for football.

How do you grade a team that hasn't played before? The new system works so much better than the system which was in place a couple of years ago. Teams would have to play 21 games in which they were getting flogged. As naive as this may sound, is it worth asking the clubs? Clubs asked to submit wher...
