Would be because the 'City network' maybe?
I'd put money on the YT's & W League players would be wanting to go there for their connections.

Bravo Tony & all at metro
Laura, Kristi, Ebbs were exceptional, but like every finals game the whole team delivered!

Momentum is a powerful thing in finals series.
I think the week off for city might even up the game, well that’s what we’ve learnt in the past.
Well done Tony & the metro team, no expectations now just enjoy the game!

Re: Adelaide United Keeper Quits Club
Just come in now that Willacy has signed with Melbourne City. Congrats on her appointment. Very sad to see her go as she is a remarkable and talented goalkeeper in SA and now we have lost her to Melbourne. Very disappointing to see her go. If the program is as good as AU coaches say it is, then why...

Re: Season review to date
With the lack of marking players in todays game I wonder if that is what is being taught on coaching courses I say that because you see a lot of goals in the A league as well where you will have up to 4 defenders inside the 18 yd box not marking anyone while there are two or sometimes three attacke...

Re: Player Power vs Club decision
That last post was a response for Sportsbird btw.
As for the original post, once you set an example of bowing to player power you then change the mind set of future coaches, all of a sudden keeping players happy over takes your game plan & winning, disaster.

Re: Player Power vs Club decision
Adelaide city are top & have a +45 goal difference & you think it’s a conspiracy that AC has 10 players in an elite women’s program, not enough players from the bottom clubs for your liking?
This is probably your most stupid post yet.

Re: Referees
Fair effort by the refs doing 2 games straight, concentrating for 90 mins is hard enough, then chuck the running in on top of that.
As a gk I dont think I could have stayed switched on for 180 minutes.

I have to say, for the majority Saasl have done a good job navigating through this period, but I cant for the life of me get my head around not being able to play a team outside our group in a friendly game, its not like were trying to tee up a trial game with South Melbourne, we were wanting to pla...

Like everyone I’d like a full home & away season but I’m glad I’m glad they’ve gone down this path rather than a hybrid league season & awarding the league trophy.
At least competing football will be back & we haven’t wasted a preseason.

Re: Season 2020
Mejor, due to ground sharing arrangements, protecting the pitch & a bit of choice, we only train once per week, we cant use our pitch until round 1 so Preseason every year needs to be away from the club, you can always make do. Metro did preseason at West Beach whilst their pitch was being laid, pla...

Re: Season 2020
The association need to start being creative, to allow an 18 game season to be completed. Yep no cup - agree! However, let's take Sunday Div 1 for example. You have PHE, Vale, Gardens, Ghan and West Beach?? who have cricket at their complex. Now, why can't the league structure the fixture list so t...

Spot on Bluefrog, as someone with a foot on each side of the fence it’s fantastic to see all the amatuer sides having a crack, and yes I got to be on the end of one of the biggest upsets of all, but that’s what makes cup football what is, good luck to all on your ‘magic of the cup’ runs!

Re: Adel Utd Coach to be Offered Further Contract Extension
Pretty naïve for you to ask me for names of clubs who do. I think you would be far better asking who doesn’t. Given my experience represents a small sample size, junior and women’s fees have bolstered the men’s game fees. Ask yourself, up until recent times, how many players in the WNPL were gettin...

Hey Sportsbird. Excellent post and you raise a lot of things I've always supported and suggested needs doing. Again as I said in a another post, A League is a very poor and soulless competition> Standard is appalling and sadly W league teams will get Zero by way of support. Look at the local WNPL/N...

A good coach would arrange for a group of local talent and coach them throughout the year ready for the big league and then top up with overseas/interstate talent. Not the other way round. Pretty sure that's what Ivan has been requesting for a couple of years now. Would NPL coaches/clubs be happy h...

Then what happens? A- Clear the decks. Put the local girls out to pasture for a long rest in WNPL. And please. No more gold passes to NTC players. It's wrong and they're years away from playing at WNPL let alone W league. Billy the kid, I agree with your comments, but not all the locals. Firstly, t...

Thanks PM. well said Putting away the chances is what determines a top 4 (finals) and being out of the finals....for 11 years in succession. The women won???? Weber should of had a hattrick, mind you. Great first half, defence looked solid until last 10 mins of game where they conceded to very late goals. Other than the Victory game theyve created a lot of chances each game, its just in the first half this week they finished them, secon...

Re: Head Coach Needs to Resign
Bizarrely, it should have been an absolute belting, disappointing ending but great result. Dawb’s goal was quality, beautiful finish. Webber’s counter attacking was lightning, just needs to stay onside, Nice brace but should have buried WSW early in the second half. Pressing by AU was excellent WSW ...
