Striker Paul Agostino has joined Adelaide United FC after the club and the former Australian international agreed on a two year deal.

Adelaide born Agostino returns to Australia after spending the past 15 years playing professionally in Europe and has been on Adelaide United’s radar for a number of months.

At 31 years of age, Agostino has experience in the UEFA Cup and UEFA Champions League and is a quality striker with plenty to offer on the pitch. He made 20 appearances for the Socceroos, making his debut against Chile in 1996, scoring 9 goals while he has scored 46 goals during over the last decade for his departing club TSV 1860 Munich.

Agostino is looking forward to returning to his hometown and helping to maintain Adelaide United as one of the top clubs in the Hyundai A-League.

“I’m very proud to be able to say that I have signed for Adelaide United. I’m really looking forward to the task ahead and helping Adelaide United continue as a successful club,” Agostino said from Munich.

Adelaide United interim coach Aurelio Vidmar believes Agostino’s inclusion will significantly bolster United’s firepower up front and bides for exciting times ahead for the club.

“Paul’s signing will be a fantastic acquisition for this club. With his experience and knowledge he will be a valuable asset and we will welcome him with open arms,” Vidmar said.

“This is very exciting not only for South Australia but the Hyundai A-League.”

Agostino will arrive in Adelaide in June to begin training with the squad.
