Adelaide frustrated by Central Coast

The lights have gone out on Adelaide United's season after grinding out a draw against the Central Coast Mariners tonight at Hindmarsh Stadium.

The draw keeps Adelaide at the bottom of the A-League table. The real question now is not if Adelaide can qualify for the finals but if Adelaide can get itself off the bottom of the A-League table.

In a tough and very tight game, the Mariners took the lead in the 39th minute via a Nick Mrdja penalty. The penalty decision itself was a harsh decision with defender Cassio ruled to have brought down a Mariners player inside the penalty area.

Four minutes later Adelaide captain Travis Dodd grabbed the equaliser with his second goal in as many matches. The goal came from a blistering run from young striker Leckie who played the ball into the feet of English import Owusu. The big striker pushed the ball across the box into the path of an unmarked Travis Dodd who made no mistake in tucking the ball inside the far post of the Mariners goal.

Adelaide and Central Coast slugged it out for the rest of the game but Adelaide struggled in the final third whilst Socceroo keeper Galekovic kept Adelaide in the game at the other end of the field.
